Janet was a long-time member of Queensland Women’s Hockey Association and was best known as Secretary where she served for over twenty years.
She was awarded a QWHA Life Membership in 1969 and an Australian Life Membership in 1988.
She represented Queensland as Janet Teys between 1952-55, 57 to 1960 inclusive and played for Australia in 1959.
She held many positions in both Queensland Women’s Hockey and Australian Women’s Hockey and served Brisbane Women’s Hockey in a variety of roles. Her most notable roles for Australian Women’s Hockey was the task of Treasurer followed by Director of Finance.
She has been involved in Selection Panels and many other committees. She held a State ‘A’ Umpires Badge and was always at Saturday Hockey to lend a helping hand.
The funeral service will be held this Friday, 10th November 2023 at St Andrews Anglican Church, Lutwyche, and members are requested to attend if they are able to do so.
