Kookaburras and Hockeyroos FIH Pro League - Hobart Series

The Hockeyroos and Kookaburras have arrived in Hobart ahead of the FIH Pro League ‘mini tournament’ starting on Tuesday 28th March at the Tasmanian Hockey Centre.
The Hockeyroos will face defending women’s FIH Pro League Champions Argentina and the USA, who recently completed a ‘mini tournament’ against New Zealand and China in Wellington.
The Kookaburras open their FIH Pro League 2022-23 campaign against Argentina and Spain in the six-day Hobart mini tournament that sees each team play each other twice.
The series will see Jayden Atkinson become the 437th player to debut for the Kookaburras. Atkinson will be the first player hailing from Cairns to play for Australia’s national men’s hockey team.
For Atkinson, who was named in the 2023 Kookaburras squad when it was announced at the end of last year, said it was a dream come true.
“I’ve been thinking about this my whole life. Coming from Cairns…there hasn’t been anyone do it before so it’s really special,” said Atkinson.
“It means everything to be able to play for the Kookaburras. To represent Australia in Australia is something special so to have my family in the crowd will be amazing.”
