Hockey Queensland Celebrates Hockeyroo and Kookaburra Debuts

Hockey Queensland is proud to extend its congratulations to the five newest additions to the Australian Hockeyroos and Kookaburras.

Mitch Nicholson, Morgan Mathison, and Jade Smith debuted in Sydney, in front of a home crowd, cheered on by friends and family.

They joined fellow Queenslanders in the line-up including Tim Howard, Jayden Atkinson, Corey Weyer, and Claire Colwill.

Impressively, Jade Smith made her debut even more memorable by scoring a goal, marking an emphatic start to her international career. Smith now boasts an impressive record of four goals across eight caps.

Ruby Harris and Karissa van der Wath were announced as the next round of debutants, and headed to Argentina for Pro League. The Harris and van der Wath families travelled to Santiago del Estero to cheer on Ruby and Karissa.

Jade Smith, Morgan Mathison, Jayden Atkinson and Tim Howard competed in Argentina alongside the two debutants.

Matt Wells OAM, joined the Kookaburras as Assistant Coach for the Argentina Pro League leg. Congratulations Wellsy!

Additionally, Dan Messer, the QAS Strength & Conditioning Coach, was invited to be part of the Hockeyroos off field team.
