Hockey QLD Academy (HQA) back in 2024/25
Published Fri 14 Jun 2024
The Hockey QLD Academy (HQA) is back in 2024/25 for year two of the 5 Year Plan and is excited to announce that two tours have already been confirmed, with an additional two in the planning stages.
After the success of the tour to the Mirnawan Cup in Malaysia last year, a select HQA team will compete in the 2024 event. New this season, a HQA team will compete in a Quad Series to be held in Hamilton, New Zealand, with more information to be released shortly. HQA teams will also attend additional camps and series locally with other state development groups.
Excitingly, there has been a significant increase in experiences and opportunities available to the athletes and coaches from around the State from year 1 to year 2, with progressions focussed on an athlete-centric development approach.
Invited athletes will receive information shortly regarding the program schedule and acceptance.
What is the Hockey QLD Academy (HQA)
The HQA includes athletes that are in 2024 QLD Under 18 and Under 16 teams or shadow groups, with the purpose to provide an environment and programming where Hockey QLD athletes can develop in a holistic manner.
Academy athletes will be exposed to high level coaches and facilitators, through a variety of methods – technical camps, online education and development, and development tour opportunities – both locally and international.
Targeted, small-group technical camps will be delivered to athletes in their own Associations in year 2 of the HQA – making these camps more accessible and cost-effective for athletes and their families, not to mention promoting enhanced development opportunities through a more athlete-centric development approach.
Hockey Qld is eager to enhance the opportunities offered to HQA members and look forward to more challenging and exciting prospects in the future.
