Final squads named to defend the Brisbane Blaze’s triple title

The Brisbane Blaze are delighted to announce their squads for the 2024 season, featuring a talented lineup of athletes! These selections represent a significant step forward in the team’s preparations for the upcoming season, and boast a significant number of current and former Hockeyroos and Kookaburras including those heading to Paris.

The Women’s Squad sees some exciting additions with Queensland junior stars Maddy Kenny, Jamie-Lee Surha and Karissa Van der Wath joined by Ashleigh Ensbey from NSW. Jade Smith is also a welcome addition after playing for the Tassie Tigers in the 2023 season.
Hockeyroo Rebecca Greiner did not nominate to the squad, choosing to play hockey in the European leagues following the Paris Olympics.
Whilst the Men’s Squad has included a mixture of young guns in Tom Campbell, Kyle Jeffery-Prestwich, and Tyler Spry, and a seasoned goalkeeper in Matthew Finn.
Last year, the Brisbane Blaze brought home all 3 trophies on offer and will be the Club to beat.
The squads will begin their training block shortly, with a pre-season trip to Darwin in late September where the Blaze will take on the NT Stingers.
The first home game is in Round 3 against the Canberra Chill and will be a rematch of the 2024 Women’s Grand Final, and held at the State Hockey Centre in Brisbane.
