Brisbane Blaze TAFE at School Program Celebrates Milestone as First Intake Completes Initial Year

Brisbane Blaze and TAFE Queensland are thrilled to announce the completion of the first intake of Year 11 students in the Brisbane Blaze TAFE at School Program. This program, launched this year in partnership with Hockey Queensland, aims to provide students with hands-on education in sports management and coaching, combining academic learning with the dynamic world of professional sports.

As these Year 11 students conclude their foundation year, they look forward to entering their second and final year in 2025, when they will deepen their practical and theoretical knowledge, preparing them for future careers in the sports industry.

The program’s success has already set a high standard for sports-integrated education, attracting students eager to learn from industry professionals and gain valuable, real-world experience.

2024 Student Cooper Simpson, praised the program. “What I enjoy most is getting out on the turf and listening to a high level coach like Amy. If you’re considering joining this course, 100% do it, it’s so much fun.. you get to do what you love, you learn so much.”

TAFE educator Amy Ryan commended the students’ dedication and highlighted the program’s role in their professional growth: ‘This course not only provides students with the foundational skills needed for coaching but also fosters confidence, teamwork, and a deeper understanding of hockey. It’s inspiring to see how committed they are to their development, and I have no doubt they will make a positive impact in the sport’s future.’

Applications for the 2025 Intake are Now Open

For those interested in joining the 2025 program, please follow these steps:

1. Talk to your school about enrolling in the Brisbane Blaze TAFE at School Program.
2. If you have any further questions, submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) via the TAFE Queensland Academy of Sport website.
3. Once you have the support of your school and parent/guardian, proceed with the application steps below.
