Brisbane Blaze Final Squads Announced

Published Wed 23 Aug 2023

The stage is set for the upcoming Hockey One season as the 2023 Brisbane Blaze Final Squads of 22 have been officially announced.

This year's squads boast an impressive roster featuring a mix of Hockeyroos, Kookaburras, and Queensland homegrown talents.

Among the noteworthy additions is the return of dual Olympian Jodie Kenny, and seasoned defender Hockeyroo Madison Fitzpatrick.

Another highly anticipated inclusion is Hockeyroo Steph Kershaw, marking her first appearance for the Blaze. Kershaw missed the 2019 season due to injury and was playing overseas in 2022.

In the Men’s Squad, senior members will be joined a promising lineup of young stars.

Former Australian Junior U21 Men's Team Members, 'Burras',  athletes Liam Hart, David Hubbard, Will Mathison, Diarmid Chappell, Noah Fahy, and Luke Randle have all earned their spot in the squad in 2023.

Last year, the Brisbane Blaze women made the Grand Final but suffered a close defeat to the NSW Pride in penalty shoot-outs to take home the silver medal, while the men secured Bronze, comfortably defeating Canberra Chill in the Third Playoff.

The excitement kicks off with a double-header as the Brisbane Blaze takes on the Adelaide Fire on Sunday, October 8th, at MATE Stadium in Adelaide.

The first home game will follow on Saturday, October 14th, where the Blaze will face off against the NSW Pride at the State Hockey Centre in Brisbane.

Memberships and season tickets for the 2023 Hockey One season are on sale now.
