Bird On A Wire Wines is owned and produced by Yarra Valley winemaker, Caroline Mooney.
The Yarra Valley is a cool climate wine region, located just one hour from Melbourne’s CBD. The region grows grapevines at high altitudes across the Yarra Ranges, across cool undulating hillsides and on warm alluvial Yarra River flats. The many types of terrain and micro-climates produce the perfect conditions for different varieties to thrive.
Caroline grew up in this beautiful part of the world and understands the terrain and vineyard sites intimately.
Through her established relationships and knowledge, Caroline sources grapes from select vineyards from across the Yarra Valley to produce the best single variety wine from single vineyard sites. The wines consistently receive high accolades and awards. Bird On A Wire Wines is a five star winery with Halliday Wine Companion and regularly receives 94 points ore more out of 100 points for new wines released.
The Bird On A Wire Chardonnay is made from fruit grown high up in the Upper Yarra Valley region. This cool climate site produces lovely fresh acidity and delicate fruit flavours.
The Bird On A Wire Marsanne is a white wine from a lower vineyard site with warmer growing conditions. It is a fuller bodied style wine which ages beautifully to display flavours of honey, pear and
lemon citrus.
The Bird On A Wire Syrah (or shiraz) is also from a warmer site in Yarra Glen. It has distinct Yarra Valley pepper and spice characters, licorice, plum, cherry and blackcurrant flavours.
Bird On A Wire Wines also produces pinot noir, nebbiolo, rose and sparkling from time to time, depending on the vintage and quality of grapes available.
The wines are made to be food-friendly and to age gracefully. Australian wine drinkers have developed a good knowledge of cuisine and wine matching and this has come to include time and patience to age wine over time to get the best expression of each variety.
You will enjoy Bird On A Wire Wines as new and young wines, but you will be richly rewarded with wines which have had some time in bottle.
Just like a seasoned hockey player, you will enjoy Bird On A Wire Wines by developing the skill and practice to discover the right food flavours or occasion to match your preferred Bird On A Wire Wines.
