Big Hockey Hit Out - Men Cancelled
Published Thu 23 Sep 2021
It is with regret Hockey Queensland announce that the Men’s Competition of the Big Hockey Hit Out this weekend will not proceed as planned.
After the event was unfortunately cut short due to lockdown, there was overwhelming feedback and enthusiasm from the hockey community that this event needed to be completed. This was based on the opportunity for a higher level of hockey being experienced by both the athletes and the spectators. After consultation with the players the preferred date to resume was Sunday 26 September. Although we had hoped the event could take place at this time around the Brisbane Men’s Premier League finals, it has become apparent that the availability of players will no longer allow the men’s competition to resume.
The women’s competition will continue and an updated draw can be found at the link below. The Stingers, Rays, Thunder and Reef will resume their contest for $2000 in prize money!
Although we are disappointed the Men’s event will not see a winner of the inaugural BHHO for 2021 we are excited that the pilot of the BHHO (despite the COVID disruption) has been successful and we look to hosting the event once again 2022.
Thank you to those that have continued to support this high performance event and we look forward to seeing which team will be crowned the inaugural winner of the Women’s BHHO competition on Sunday.
