Barbara Knowles OAM

Congratulations to Barbara Knowles on receiving a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) as part of this year’s King's Birthday honours, for her service to hockey.
Barb is a stalwart of Rockhampton Hockey, having been involved for well over 40 years, and holding the position of President from 2008 - 2021. She was an integral part of Rockhampton Hockey hosting the 2019 Oceania Cup which was a huge event for the region.
As a player she competed for Southern Suburbs Hockey Club for 36 years, and represented Queensland Australia in Masters from 1992 - 2001.
Her accolades include Rockhampton Sports Official of the Year for 2019 and Hockey Queensland's Volunteer of the Year 2018.
Barb is the mother of Mark Knowles OAM, 4 time Olympian and current Deputy Chef De Mission for the Paris Games.
