After a rigorous and highly competitive recruitment process, Hockey Queensland is thrilled to announce Angie Lambert OAM OLY as our new Women’s High Performance Head Coach.
Angie, a former Hockeyroos star and Olympic gold medallist, has spent the past two years developing Queensland’s future hockey talent through the QAS/AIS Gen 32 Coaching Scholarship. Her deep technical knowledge, ability to decode the international game, and athlete-first coaching approach stood out to the selection panel, which included representatives from Hockey Queensland, Hockey Australia, The AIS, and The QAS.
As a player, Angie was one of Australia’s most respected defenders with 225 caps, competing in three Olympic Games and winning gold in Sydney 2000. Her leadership, tactical expertise, and commitment to high performance have seamlessly transitioned into her coaching career, making her the ideal choice to drive the next generation of Queensland’s elite female athletes.
Hockey Queensland CEO Alison Lyons said Lambert’s appointment marks an exciting chapter for women’s high-performance hockey in the state.
“Angie’s knowledge of the international game and her ability to bring the best out of athletes made her the standout candidate for this role. She has already been instrumental in developing Queensland’s top female players, and we’re thrilled that she will continue to shape our high-performance pathway.”
Angie’s appointment reinforces Hockey Queensland’s commitment to developing world-class athletes and coaches while strengthening our position as a powerhouse in Australian hockey.
Congratulations, Angie! We can’t wait to see where you take Queensland hockey next.
