2025 Parliamentary Friends of Hockey Press Gallery v MPs Champions Trophy Shootout

Yesterday we hosted the inaugural PFoH Champions Trophy Shootout between the press gallery and the MPs at Parliament House, where the MPs were victorious with some impressive goals! The press gallery were coached by Matt Wells OAM, and the MPs by Brent Livermore OAM 👏 and Burnie Blaze was giving out high fives 🔥
In front of Members of Parliament, guests, Association members, and Olympians, Hockey Qld announced that we will be launching our Federal Election Brief next week —calling for urgent investment in new hockey turfs across Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast, and a Northern Centre of Excellence in Townsville.
These asks are about ensuring our participation growth, international hosting ambitions, and Olympic dreams can all be delivered. The Olympic venue is a major win—but to meet demand, we also need to invest in more community and high-performance facilities. That’s how we back in the thousands of players, coaches, officials and volunteers who turn up week in and week out across this state.
